This Sunday is a big day in our country. Many of us will get together with friends, watch the Super Bowl, and eat a lot of really good food. The Super Bowl is one of those big events that we celebrate together with our friends.
Some of you may have come across this story in the news over the past few days, (USA Today | Reuters | Google) but there is a very ugly side to what will happen in Dallas this week. Women and children to are victims of human trafficking will be taken to Dallas and their bodies sold for sex.
At the past two Super Bowls, around 50 victims have been rescued. I want to invite you to pray for more victims to experience freedom this year. Pray for law enforcement agencies and other organizations who will be down in Dallas to help will be successful in finding victims and arresting them.
This past Sunday Erin Smith spoke about Love146 and the upcoming Broken Heart Club dinner on February 13th. If this is an issue that really strikes a chord for you, I hope you’ll consider talking to Erin about how you can get involved here in Ithaca. In addition to the Broken Heart Club dinner, we have started up a Love146 task force and will have information on that very soon.
Human trafficking is a huge issue that seems overwhelming…but we believe that this is an issue that God cares deeply about…and as a church we want to be a part of helping people experience the freedom that Jesus created them to experience.
Thanks for praying.
