The Ithaca Vineyard held its first service on February 7th, 1999 in downtown Ithaca.  It is a day that has always stuck in my head for a couple reasons.  The obvious being that it was a pretty big step in our lives, and secondly, it was 3 days after the birth of my third daughter Brenna.  And in case you are wondering, both Liz & Brenna were at the first service!

DecadeThe big question is what would have happend if Liz had had Brenna 3 days later, and gone in to labor 2 hours before our first service was scheduled to start?  The bigger question is, who is dumb enough to schedule a church’s first service for the same week his wife is due?

So, last February we were planning to be all moved into our new place, and celebrate our 10th anniversary and our new building at the same time.  But as you know, we didn’t get in in February…or March…or April…you get the picture.  Needless to say, our celebration kept getting pushed back and in the end, we never celebrated our 10th anniversary.

As you may have heard, the cool thing about the calendar, is that it has this tendency to repeat itself.  So, while our 10 year Anniversary/Grand Opening Celebration didn’t pan out, our 11 year Anniversary/Grand Opening is less than 2 months away!

We wanted to give you a bit of a heads up so that you can mark your calendars….Here’s the plan:

On Saturday evening, February 6th, we’ll host our anniversary/grand opening celebration.  We are currently in the process of pulling everything together, so if you’d like to help out, let us know & we’ll get you plugged in.

On Sunday night, February 7th, there is a certain really big football game on…we we are going to watch the game on the big screen & continue the celebration!  (We will have a kid’s room set up too where they can watch movies on another big screen.)

So, we hope you’ll mark your calendar & plan on joining us.  If you used to be part of the Vineyard, but live out of town now, we’d love for you to come back & join us in celebrating the great things that God has done in & through the Ithaca Vineyard these past 10 11 years!
